My first boyfriend’s best friend fell in love with me: Izabelle Leite

Purani Jeans, directed by Tanushri Chattrji Bassu, is a coming-of-age drama based on the belief that 'friendship is like a pair of old jeans. The older it gets, the better it becomes'. Ahead of the film's release, we met up with the lead actors — Aditya Seal, Tanuj Virwani and Izabelle Leite — to find out their take on friendship and romance. Here are excerpts from a conversation...

So, how old is your oldest pair of jeans? Aditya: It's eight years old... rugged and faded, yet nice. Tanuj: I have so many clothes, but I always go for this pair of jeans that I bought many years ago. I wash it only once a year. In fact, my mom has now started saying that I am taking the film and my character too seriously. Izabelle: The oldest one that I wear is four years old.

What does friendship mean to you? Aditya: My oldest friend has been with me since my KG days and he knows everything about me. My other friends are all from my school, tuition classes and college. They are lending me moral support even now, while I am promoting the film.Tanuj: I love my friends because they keep me grounded. I have five to six close friends, who I have known since junior KG. They can come to my house anytime, use my stuff, meet my parents and do whatever they want to. They are like family. Izabelle: I live with my best friend and I am grateful to have her around. I have another close friend, a Brazilian, who comes down to India every year and spends two-three months with me.

In the film, both of you fall for the same girl. Has that ever happened in your real life? Aditya: I was dating a girl for quite some time. After we broke up, a close friend came to me and said a bit hesitatingly that he had always liked her. I told him, 'Good choice brother.' But they are not together anymore. Tanuj: I fell in love with my best friend's girlfriend once. I felt uncomfortable to tell them and kept mum. I dated her after they broke up, but it did not work out. Izabelle: My first boyfriend's best friend fell in love with me, but that affected their friendship. They even stopped talking to each other. Aditya and Tanuj: Iza leaves a trail of heart-broken guys wherever she goes.

Revealed a source from the film's production, "Both SRK and Farah were impressed with the way Baby Doll escalated the fortunes of Ekta's horrex. However, instead of the Meet Brothers, Kanika will be collaborating with Dr. Zeus this time."

Like with Sunny Leone in the Ragini sequel, Deepika who plays a bar dancer in Happy New Year, is the focal point of the song. SRK also intends to shoot a remix version with Kanika, like he did in Lungi Dance with Honey Singh in Chennai Express.

An over-the-top blockbuster of Biblical proportions

DARREN Aronofsky is no by-the-book filmmaker, and even if that book happens to be the Old Testament, nothing is sacred. And so his retelling of the story of Noah's Ark is far removed from anything you may have learned in Sunday school.

Russia warns US against further sanctions as Ukraine deal stalls

[DONETSK] Russia said its military is massed on Ukraine's doorstep and warned against further US sanctions as a deal struck with Washington appeared to stall because of intransigence by Moscow-backed rebels in the former Soviet republic.
A threat by US President Barack Obama that more sanctions would befall Moscow if the agreement, reached Thursday with Ukraine and the EU, failed was "absolutely unacceptable," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian television.
"Our Western colleagues are trying to push responsibility towards our side. But it must be underlined: it is a collective responsibility," he said.
He pointedly declared that "there are troops close to the Ukrainian border". "Some are based there, others have been sent as reinforcements due to the situation in Ukraine," he added.
